Some iOS 6 users are complaining about Wi-Fi and connectivity issues with their devices.

Some are simply unable to turn the Wi-Fi on after upgrading to iOS 6; others' Wi-Fi is seemingly working but they're unable to connect to a network.

The usual "reset network settings" fix doesn't seem to solve the problem, and no complete solution has been found yet.

The thread about the issue on Apple's support forums is 94 pages long, indicating that these problems affect quite a number of users.

Sony and Olympus have entered a "business and capital alliance," with Sony buying 50 billion yen ($644 million) worth of Olympus' shares, and gaining a 51% stake in a new joint venture focusing on medical business, Sony has announced.

Under the terms of the agreement [PDF link], Olympus will issue 34,387,900 common shares to Sony, ultimately representing 11.28% of Olympus' total shares.

The new joint venture between the two companies doesn't yet have a name -- it's currently called simply "medical business venture." It should be established by the end of December 2012 and combine Sony's research with Olympus' strong position in the surgical endoscope market.

Karmin, whose astronomical success on YouTube lead the pop duo to a record deal in 2011 and a guest performance spot on Saturday Night Live this year, will now grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

The issue hits newsstands Friday with Amy Heidemann -- the female half of Karmin -- front and center. Karmin earned the cover slot by winning Rolling Stone's crowdsourced "Women Who Rock" competition.

Facebook hosted a hackathon in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Thursday, kicking off the foundation's College Knowledge Challenge. That's a $2.5 million investment fund to encourage developers to make apps that meliorate the college process.

Laura Lang, who took the reins as CEO of Time Inc. 10 months ago, sent a memo to staff Wednesday outlining how she plans to rescue the struggling company.

The magazine publisher witnessed a six percent decline in advertising revenue to $855 million in the first half of 2012, and a seven percent decrease year-over-year in subscription revenue to $581 million.

If you thought that the chatter about Apple's Maps app in iOS 6 was overwhelmingly negative, here's proof that it wasn't just the folks in your social stream.

Twitter analysis firm Crimson Hexagon grabbed more than 50,000 tweets that mentioned the Maps app, which comes standard on the iPhone 5, over the last six days. The exchange of data is part of a long-term "strategic investment" that Microsoft is investing in Klout. In a Bing blog post, Microsoft says the sharing of data between the two companies is just the beginning of the relationship. The exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A Sikh woman's classy, thoughtful response to a mean-spirited photo of her posted on Reddit has not only warmed the hearts of people around the globe, it has even forced the man who posted the photo to look at his actions and repent.

Research in Motion reported a net loss of $235 million, or $0.45 a share, and generated $2.9 billion in revenue in the third quarter, handily beating Wall Street's low expectations.

Factoring out the company's pre-tax restructuring costs, RIM actually ended up with a net loss of $142 million for the quarter, or $0.27 a share. If you're a customer at a major bank, it's likely that it recently suffered a huge cyberattack.

PNC Bank is the latest national bank who has reportedly fallen victim to a series of Distributed Denial of Service attacks, a list that also includes Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. As of Thursday afternoon, PNC.com was still down.

A hacker group from the Middle East is reportedly behind the attacks, which allegedly sent large amounts of traffic -- up to 10 to 20 times the normal rate -- to the site at once. Data is typically not hacked during denial of service attacks. Instead, the aim is to temporarily crash websites.

GeoPollster, a new "connected app," links with your Foursquare account then shows the political contributions of every company to which you've ever checked in, when the data's available.

"We added the 100 companies with the most venues [on Foursquare]," said Adam Kraft of GeoPollster.

The platform's results are based on data from the 2010 and 2012 political cycles. OpenSecrets.org, an independent campaign finance watchdog, provides those results.

The amount of time Americans spend on mobile devices and social networking sites is accelerating rapidly -- and their news consumption habits are shifting accordingly.

In a Pew Research Center survey of 3,003 U.S. adults, 17% said they accessed news on cell phone or tablet device the day before. Even more -- 20% -- said they regularly get news from social networks like Facebook or Google+, nearly the triple the number that did a year ago.
