I was the proverbial kid in a candy store when I brought my 3-year-old daughter to the opening of the first West Coast location of Dylan’s Candy Bar at The Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles this past weekend.

Guests were given a candy necklace for access to the party and got to fill a flip-flop shaped tin with candy. Fun and perfect for the new California location!

I wasn’t the only one who brought my sweet tooth! The colorful store was packed with lots of celebs, including Janet Jackson, pictured above, in a photo I took of her chatting with CEO Dylan Lauren. It was interesting to see Janet in these circumstances. All eyes were on her as she made the rounds picking out various candies. People around me were commenting on how great she looks and she really does look good. She was wearing a long black dress that made her look super skinny and had on lots of cool bracelets.

Outside the store, there were many, many fans with their noses pressed to the windows and their cameras trying to get shots of Janet. It’s like we were in a bubble with Janet and it was interesting to see what her life is like from that perspective.

Other celebs included Marcia Cross, Sela Ward, Jason Biggs, Blair Underwood and Harry Hamlin, who introduced me to one of his beautiful daughters and we talked about how one of his girls and my daughter both share the same middle name.

As for the candy, my 3-year-old rarely gets any and had no idea what much of it was. I, on the other hand, am a candy-holic! I think I was more excited about getting to try all the treats than she was! There was even a tiered chocolate fountain, where she tasted a chocolate dipped marshmallow — another first for her.

But I blame Sprinkles Cupcake Queen Candace Nelson, who has been on Access Hollywood Live several times and is always so nice, for my true diet downfall.

She introduced me to the absolutely divine sea salt chocolate almonds. OMG — my weak spot. I devoured too many of these. So good though….totally worth the calories! Willy Wonka himself couldn’t have thrown a better party!
