It is hot, hot, hot just about everywhere, but that doesn't mean you have to give in to a bad hair day.

Eva Mendes' elegant pony is just the ticket to keeping cool, while still looking chic.

"Eva's a gorgeous woman, so everything looks great on her, but I do love pulling her hair back to accent her almond shaped eyes," says celebrity stylist Rolando Beauchamp, who created Eva's look and has also worked with the Olsens and Kim Kardashian.

"Since the look is away from the face, yet softly waved, this style can flatter nearly every face shape," Rolando says. "For a rounder face, I would take the part slightly off centered to balance the face shape."

What's best is that this look works just about anywhere. "This is incredibly easy to achieve and is appropriate for both the beach and red carpet," he says. "You could even use beach hair's naturally wind blown texture to give you a similar look and feel to this style and then just sweep hair back."

Here's how to create Eva's look. Rolando, who is a Bumble and bumble Editorial Stylist started by applying a bit of Bb. Thickening Hairspray at the roots and a few drops of Defrizz from roots to ends.

He blow-dried with a round brush for volume and bend, teased lightly at the crown for height, then parted hair at the side.

Next, he "took two-inch by two-inch sections and wrapped them around a one-and-a-half-inch curling iron held vertically, twisting hair around the barrel toward the face."

After completing the set, Rolando brushed out the curls and gathered hair into a low knot, which was then secured with a bungee.

To cover the elastic, he used a length of satin ribbon to wrap the knot and left a few inches hanging for a decorative flourish.
