Gone Girl is about a woman who disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary, casting suspicion on her husband. The story is told from the husband’s point of view in the presence and through the wife’s diary entries throughout the marriage.

Twelve people were tragically killed and fifty injured during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises early Friday morning (July 20) in Aurora, Colo.

The gunman reportedly wore a mask similar to that of Tom Hardy‘s Bane character, and opened fire with a stockpile of weapons early on in the showing of the film, THR reports.

The subject has been apprehended by police.

“Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time,” President Obama said in a statement.

Celebrities have been taking to Twitter all night to express their sympathies.

The superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan grossed over $27 million for its Thursday (July 19) midnight opening, according to Deadline.

Dark Knight Rises midnight showings number shattered the $18.4 million generated by Marvel's The Avengers midnights earlier this summer. With pre-sales of $30 million and international grosses from 9 countries totaling $10.4 million, the film has already collected $67.4 million worldwide.

Shia LaBeouf keeps a low profile as he makes his way out of LAX on Thursday (July 19) in Los Angeles.

Over the weekend, the 26-year-old actor attended 2012 Comic-Con where he presented a sneak peek screening of his new film Lawless alongside castmates Dane DeHaan and Jason Clarke.

“There’s physical preparation. We were all in the gym all of the time. I was in the gym more here than I had ever been in my entire life,” Shia told MTV about getting into shape for the film. “You go as hard as you can. It’s a very physical thing.”
