Glam Slam: DIY Style

I am not a crafty person at all. I am not artistic — I can barely draw a straight line. And I definitely can’t sew beyond putting a button on.

But I am a tad proud of myself for the white sleeveless jacket in this photo… because it’s a DIY kinda deal. Kinda.

No, I didn’t design or sew it, but I saw a woman in a store who had a similar tux-style sleeveless jacket on that I just LOVED and I asked her who it was by. Stella McCartney. Oh. No.

Great looking jacket for sure, but totally expensive and totally out of my price range. Bummer.

That got me thinking though… and decided that I would create my own sleeveless jacket like hers. Yes!

So what did I do? I hit my local Forever 21, of course!

There I found a decent white jacket for $29. Score! Then I took it to my tailor and had the sleeves removed and a nice hem put in. Voila! A chic jacket for less than $50.

I think the jacket looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. And I got several compliments on it. And oh yeah… I saved, oh, I don’t know… several hundred dollars!

I’ve since seen other similar jackets, but I kinda like that I got creative (and thrifty!) and put a little imagination into mine.
