Bridal budget

Q: I'm getting married next May, and I've read that it's good to start dress shopping 10-9 months before the date. I am nervous to go the bridal boutique route because of price. Is there a way to stay under or around $1000 (not including alterations) dress budget at the shops in the DC area?

A: First off, congrats on your engagement! Second, don't be nervous. Bridal boutiques in the DC Area often have killer sample sales that offer deeply discounted designer gowns. Just be sure to check their event schedules for details and dates.

Starting tomorrow, you can enjoy up to 80% off designer wedding gowns, bridesmaid gowns and eveningwear at Chevy Chase Bridal (Mazza Gallerie Floor 2, 5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW). Score this Badgley Mischka "Lucas" gown (pictured) for $950, originally $3610. Please note that sample sale gowns typically are sized at an 8, but Chevy Chase Bridal has an in-house atelier than can size gowns as small as a size 4 to up to a size 12 (depending on gown). Call 202.363.9301 for an appt. Good luck!
