Jeremy Renner and Marion Cotillard bring the 1920s back to life in an untitled James Gray project set in New York City.

The movie, previously referred to under the working title Low Life, also features Joaquin Phoenix.

The story follows Sonya (Cotillard), a Polish immigrant who becomes caught between a cabaret owner and pimp (Phoenix) and a magician who wants to save her (Renner)

In an interview, James said that he sees a lot of potential in this movie. “I think it’s going to be my best work,” he said. “What I shot was not just my best work, but the actors doing their best and I’m very excited about it for that reason.”
