At the Park Avenue Armory, the timeless romance between emo-mopey Romeo (Sam Troughton, pictured, center) and sullen-saturnine Juliet (Mariah Gale)—brought to life by the Royal Shakespeare Company, as part of their epic summer-rep residency—becomes more a business of attitude than passion, with Mercutio (Jonjo O'Neill, irght), that affable misogynist, venting all the sexual frustration the leads can't always find outlets for. Director Rupert Goold's concept hops time, belches steam and flame, and sports a Cowboys & Aliens-style steampunk bravado.
