Why the 3DS isn't selling well
Nintendo is not happy with sales thus far for the Nintendo 3DS despite claims that the 3D handheld broke records in the first week of its launch. Since then, most headlines about the 3DS cite Nintendo being disappointed with sales post-launch. The original DS is certainly a tough act to follow, but there are other reasons why we think the 3DS is off to a bumpy start.

Mass Effect 3 delayed to Q1 2012
One of the holiday season's heavy hitters has bowed out of its expected fourth-quarter release. Today, via Facebook, BioWare announced that Mass Effect 3 will now arrive on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 during the first three months of 2012. The new date puts it in the similar launch window of Mass Effect 2, which launched in January 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PC and January 2011 for the PS3.

Nintendo drops Wii to $149
Nintendo is dropping the price of its Wii game console to $149 and including a Mario game in the bundle, the company said early today. Industry observers have been expecting the company to slash the price of the device--which has been $169 with a bundle. Their expectations grew further with last week's announcement that Nintendo will release a successor to the Wii next year.

Redbox readies $2 game rentals
Redbox plans to start renting out games at the vast majority of its U.S. locations later this year. Starting in June, 21,000 Redbox locations will feature Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii titles, the company said yesterday. The games will be available for $2 per day and feature everything from "top releases to popular family and kids titles."
